The Obelisk Gate by N. Jemisin

Essun is going after her missing daughter Nassun, while the world is slowly ending. Ash and acid are falling from the skies and the wildlife is eating people in unusual ways.

She finds an old friend instead.

Earth is clearly no place for humans in this series and I don’t need the third book to see where it’s all headed. But there’s a tiny bit of hope that this very unstable world can provide home to humans. So I think I’ll continue with it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Also, the copy is beautiful.

The sleepyhead and the two gentlemen

The last photo was supposed to be beautiful but I somehow did this wrong crop and felt like it’s still worthy because it features love in the bottom right corner.

I think the first cat has been featured here at least two times before and is only overshadowed by a family of black kittens.

First day of fall

Technically, it is not. But it felt that way. There’s a very sharp contrast with the hot summer day yesterday. Here are some photo proofs.

The last photo features the tiniest optics shop in Sofia.

Ice cream shop

This is an ice cream shop. Looks vintage and cool, and I’m happy that it operates. It’s located near the statue of the girl who turnеd her back to the army.

Did I share that I love ice cream? I managed to eat tons of it this summer and I’m not sure I can get away with such ice cream consumption for too long.

Closer

It’s hard for me to spot the difference between crows and ravens. I think about ravens as black crows. These were likely crows because they were too small for ravens but at the same time, I spotted an unkindness of ravens just a few kilometers away so who knows.

These two found walnuts.
