Love and Hate

My daily walk was short. I captured only a few photos.

This is a palindrome sculpture in Sofia Tech Park, where I briefly visited OpenFest. I somehow missed the meaning of the sculpture the last few times I walked past it. I think it’s pretty cool, although I wish it was painted and not with this rusty color. I suspect the sculptures in the park have a shared meaning, like things are not what they look. There are other elements nearby with a clear dual meaning.

For example, this is either a violoncello, or a piece of metal that fell off, depending on the point of view. I wasn’t sure which one so went back and checked the welds – clearly welded this way, very solid sheet of steel, not broken and dented.

And and out-of-focus animal, probably a squirrel.

Fall

It rained today and making 10k steps wasn’t easy. However, despite the dark and grey weather, the city looked colorful and well, for the brave ones, looking.

Tiamat Coming to Sofia

1994 feels like a lifetime ago. That was the year I got my very first cassette of metal music – Master of Puppets by Metallica. The tape, however, was longer than the album itself, and the friend who gave it to me decided to fill the extra space by recording two bonus tracks, one on each side.

This was the first one:

So, in a sense, my metal journey started with Tiamat as much as it did with Metallica. So this Swedish group, I largely forgot existed, is coming to Sofia on November 15th.

The other song I had as a bonus to Master of Puppets was this joyful piece by the German band Crematory. That band later changed their style and are still active with more ordinary rock music.

Ice Rink

Sofia is preparing for the winter. Technicians are assembling the big public Ice Rink.

It feels at least 2 months too soon, though. I’m pretty sure the cold weather won’t stick. Most trees are still green and well. Essentially a cold summer 🙂

Blue and Yellow

I took a look at the sky this morning, and it was not lead gray.

This motivated me to do a bit more steps outside. The gallery shows a couple of landmarks from the city, complimented by Blue and Yellow.
