I challenged myself to do a 365-day blogging streak last year and managed to do it. I have to admit that I messed it up a few times mostly during trips, most recently 2 weeks ago in Agaete.
The blogging streak doesn’t work very well with timezone changes. You can be on a streak, come back home, and the streak is broken 5 times over the last 7 days. So I had to change post dates and slightly cheated to keep it going.
The Reader is the primary reason why I can keep being motivated to blog. Found many nice folks there, and some found me. It gives me likes and comments I didn’t have with my previous blog, which had better SEO and far more visitors.
The Reader link was rebranded from “Read” to an icon some months ago, which made it less recognizable. It’s now back as a O^O Reader. I’m thankful to the folks who put the text back. I hope more bloggers discover it this way because the tool is quickly improving.
The Waiting is Michael Connelly’s 39th book from the Harry Bosch Universe. Renée Ballard from LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit is going to chase a number of different cases at the same time, with the help of Maddie Bosch. Two of the cases are serial killers. Harry Bosch also makes a brief appearance. The avalanche of cases is something we can imagine from an unit that digs into the past and the entire series is plausible. It’s very satisfying because you read about multiple resolutions throughout the book.
Renée Ballard is my current most favorite character by Michael Connelly. She’s experienced but impatient. Doesn’t shy away from yelling at people. Relies on others to do the job. She chills by surfing, which puts her in difficult positions from time to time, including in that book. It starts with the theft of her belongings while surfing. She has no superpowers and doesn’t rely on Deux ex machina to solve the cases. I like the whole setup.
This thriller gets an easy 5*/5 Goodreads rating. It will be a hard thing to read a better book in January. The bar is set high.
So, the little one watched a TV ad about guitar toys and asked for one. I gave him a chance to change his mind but he didn’t and persisted over a few days. “Oh, buddy, you’re unleashing a Kraken here. I’m not getting you a guitar toy, I’m getting you a real guitar appropriate for your height.” The result was that I ordered this lovely baby-size Yamaha. Plays beautifully. Now the big question is if the kid will sustain the interest for longer than 1 day. He’s excited today.
I don’t know about him but I was quite happy buying it and trying to play sounds I’ve not attempted in many years.
I only saw one of the gatherings this year and the folks were without their uniforms. But they were as noisy as always. I’m sure the evil spirits ran away.
