Brutalism and socialism in one photo from my neighbourhood. This bridge goes to Sofia Tech Park where we recently held the WordCamp.
It’s really something to see how modern that bridge looks, compared to the buildings… When I was in Yerevan last year, I was struck by how the old Soviet era buildings are slowly being replaced with new architecture. I remember arriving there in 1995 with the Peace Corps and seeing half built Soviet style buildings that probably never got finished. Sofia also has some cool old architecture from before the invasion.

Sofia doesn’t replace anything, just adds new buildings between the old ones to reuse the infrastructure.
