Onyx Storm is out. Back in June, I ate books 1 and 2 of the series like ice cream on a hot summer day and rated both 4*/5. The problem is that this new book is huge, and 4/5 is not a very high rating for my blog. More like meh. Where do I draw the line when a series is interesting but flawed with plot holes bigger than TON 618?
Do you need a doorstop?

I mean, look at this thing, it’s gigantic. I only have roughly 2 4×2 Kallax shelves for all of my books.
And at the same time, it’s the most hyped book of the month. It will be interesting.
But pfew, some kids will do the two opposing types of magic and will be in love, and the love will be forbidden. It’s complicated.

Do you want to read it?

yep, I do. And I’m sure it won’t take me more than 2-3 days. But then I’ll hate the book and will post a review it’s 4* and has plot holes bigger than Musk’s ego.

Priorities to put in order:
Believing the hype
Shelf Building
Desire to read very chunky book
Requirement for a good doorstop

Series can be such a dilemma, can’t they? It makes me feel like a quitter if I don’t see it through to the end, but on the other hand, life’s too short to read books you aren’t crazy about. I’ve had the most recent installment of a series I’ve been reading sitting on my Kindle that I’ve been debating about for a couple months now. It’s by an author I really like, and I had preordered it, but I know this series doesn’t measure up to her other work. I keep putting other books ahead of it on my list.
And I didn’t think there was anything bigger than Musk’s ego 😂

Cool. Multiple add-on books is like sequels of movies. They can get watered down quickly. I rarely watch a sequel to a movie. 🙂
