Who knows. They live outside but have people feeding them. Some have shelter, some don’t. Most are very friendly and you can’t even take a photo because they come for pets.
Being a cat lover, it breaks my heart to see all the stray cats. It’s strange but your post makes me think they are taking care of by the community to some degree. There’s not doubt that shop owners like to have them be a mascot.
That shows compassion! Not everyone can have a cat or other pet but to help the feral cats says so much about the person. Is lack of food the reason babies don’t live? It’s sad but’s that is how life rolls at times for everyone.
I chatted with a lady that cares about the cat population around our office. She explained that the cats get pregnant too frequently and can’t feed the babies, it’s not about shortage of cat food.
These cats are all feral? They look pretty healthy if they are.

So, relatively tame if feral. That explains it.
There was a colony of feral cats on Hawaii’s big island when I visited years ago. They were the exact opposite — skittish and prone to hissing at you.
Now… go find moar cats [I have 6 myself].

Like how birds of prey circle in the air, surveying the area where they hunt before they “swoosh” down for that, kill…

Yes, as long as they can make it through childhood, there’s usually a human feeding them and taking care. But those humans rarely take the cats in.

My beagles do that too. As Snoopy would say while leaping down: “Death from above!”
