A hole opened on the road in my neighborhood as a result of the underground subway construction. The road is severely damaged, and it looks like the buildings nearby may start cracking as well. There were some attempts to fill the hole, but more holes opened. The sidewalk separated from the road, and there are large cracks over a long distance.

Makes me wonder why is it still permitted for busses to drive near the holes and if the nearby building will need to be evacuated.
UPDATE: the road is fully closed today, all the buses (TM3, TM5, and 73) have alternative routes. Multiple bus stops have been closed. I’m glad the engineers took this seriously.
Plan Ahead??

Both are good questions. Sounds like poor planning on the contractor.

I think they didn’t dig deep enough and now we are looking into years of delays and limited access to the main road.

Is this typical with your government?

There’s a level of short-sightedness in infrastructure projects here and there. What looks like cost-cutting today, looks like years of delays and hundreds of millions of extra costs later.
But these money come from another budget so it’s okay.

But the hassle of driving around the mess isn’t worth it. It happens here to but often it’s the contractor vs government.

This sounds really frightening

Oh no! I hope the authorities step in quickly before it becomes even more dangerous for both the road and the nearby buildings.

They closed the area and moved the public transport elsewhere. We’ll see

Typical for our country. Nothing really surprises me anymore. Sad you will have to deal with the aftermath now and not have access to this area for God knows how long. I personally would avoid it by the looks of it. A sink hole might open up any moment.

It looks more like a 100 meter long landslide than a few sinkholes.

I see, hopefully they will fix it!

Lucky you. Our city is littered with holes and nobody cares. In fact, we’re famous for digging newly-built roads over and over again.
