I’m already 70 books behind schedule from my 2025 reading goals. Not sure how I managed to get that many books behind but the AI can’t lie.

I’ll try to catch up.

Just kidding, reading is like watching TV. I don’t think it’s too important.

I was an avid readere for years, maybe 5-7 books a week but it was cutting into my sleep time. I listen to books occasionally but I get bored easy.

7 books/week is 365/year. I only know two people who have done that. Sounds exhausting.
I can burn out from reading. A couple of years with the current rate and I’ll likely need a few years of a break. It happened to me in the past. However, I developed strategies against that – I give up the books I don’t like very quickly and never finish them or mention them anywhere.

I did burn out and haven’t read a book since. I’ve scanned a few but I rarely think of reading. Probably because I spend too much time on the Internet.

Yeah, I can imagine. So sorry this happened to you 😦 losing books is a big loss. I feel like I lost my ability to play mobile games like that.

It happens, it’s always possible I’ll read books in the future. Right now I’m enjoying watching short shows on Prime Video on my phone. I’m reading about how astronomy has been used even Christopher Columbus used astrological charts to navigate his journeys. Most shows are 30-45 minutes long and I learn so much. Many on my watch list include learning about the history of many countries. I get the sense of completion without the investment. 🙂

Hmm… me too (although I’m only targetting 30). Looks like a classic redesign/rebuild that forgot the landing page widget to me.

I think goodreads does not have many engineers. Such a shame, it’s a great website.

Yep, the lack of updates on Goodreads for the last few years has been driving people to e.g. Storygraph I think. There do seem to be a couple of signs of revival though, so who knows?

It’s just the 4th day of the year.

They fixed it. Posting your first book on January 1st no longer produces this effect.
Maybe I needed to post on January 1st in Bulgaria but not US. Something to try next year.
